| It's Fathers Day. Did you remember to get your Dad a gift, or even a card to thank him for being there all those years and putting up with you as a teenager?
Well, thanks to the Internet, there is still a chance to say thanks and Happy Father's Day. Our instant society and buy now opportunities that have developed because of the Internet let us send messages, electronic greetings or even gifts in just a few seconds.
This is a life saver for all of us last minute shoppers or forgetful sons and daughters when it comes to remembering special dates and holidays.
Let's start with the electronic greeting card option, Blue Mountain (http://www.bluemountain.com). First, navigate over to their home page. Now, down the left hand column, you will notice a list of dates with each holiday linked to the appropriate cards. Click on 18 Father's Day.
Next you will have a choice of different types of cards, I selected Fun Father's Day e-Cards. Any of the options will bring up thumbnails to select from.
I then choose King of the Grill and went on to the customize page after clicking on the icon. This is where you personalize the card with the from, to, and the personal message you want to include.
After that, you preview your card and send it off! For future occasions, you can even specify what day you would like to send the card so you are sure to not forget!
If you are looking for something with a little different style, the San Diego Zoo's Web site offers e-PostCards at (http://www.sandiegozoo.com/postcards/send.php3).
First, select a category, like Baby Panda, click on one of the many thumbnail options and fill out the sender, recipient and message fields. After that, you can preview the card then send with one final click.
One final, last minute, idea for Father's day is a simple electronic gift certificate. There are online stores that sell just about everything and offer gift certificates sent through e-mail.
Your father, or any recipient, can then redeem the gift certificate by filling out a special code during the online ordering process.
Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com) is one of the biggest and best. In fact, as I wrote this column, the top center section of their home page displayed a link to an e-card/gift certificate combination just for Fathers day.
Barnes and Noble (http://www.bn.com) also offers e-cards and e-mail gift certificates. Look for the link down the left-hand column.
So this year, be that good son or daughter and make your Dad proud. With just a little effort and some help from the Internet, you can make your father feel like the best parent in the world.
